Restoring a historic brick high school while modernizing its corridors, systems and student spaces for another century of use.
Project overview
Enid High School’s historic brick building is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. This renovation honored that history — cleaning and restoring the masonry, re-establishing the fountain plaza out front — while bringing the interior up to modern expectations with renovated corridors, new finishes, better lighting and upgraded building systems.
Henson’s role
Renovation of an older building is where experience pays off most. Hidden conditions, aging utilities and original construction methods all surface once walls open up. Henson’s approach — a dedicated project manager and superintendent from start to finish, plus a constructability review up front — helped the district anticipate surprises, protect the budget, and phase work around the school calendar so students could stay in the building.
The result
A restored community landmark with interiors that feel new: polished concrete floors, warm wood paneling, illuminated trophy cases and a front plaza worthy of the building.
